I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other issue, I will help you recognize underlying problems, fully realize your strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way.
My practice specializes in treating individuals, couples and families and I offer comprehensive services dealing with:
Counseling, also known as psychotherapy, is the process of meeting together with a mental health professional with the goal of helping the client overcome problems and change desired behaviors. Clients typically desire to improve their mental health and increase their well-being.
It is a safe spot to share and discuss things that you choose not to tell others. Individual therapy covers anything from struggles in relationships, broken families, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, addiction, troublesome behaviors, and more.
Addiction is a complex but treatable disease that affects both brain function and behaviors. Through therapy clients can recognize, avoid, and cope with the situations in which they are most likely to use drugs, such as feeling entitled to have things one’s own way or not understanding the consequences of one’s behavior.
Addiction therapy is not just for the addict, the effect of addiction is felt by everyone in the addict’s life including family, friends, spouse. We know addicts and alcoholics really mean it when they say they are done, yet so many find themselves once again trapped in the vicious cycle of addiction. Therapy can help all those effected by the vicious cycle of addiction.
Couples/marriage therapy is a way to properly address the problems, conflicts, and tension in a relationship. Learning how to communicate affectively how one is feeling and thinking is imperative for a committed relationship to work. You may be verbally fighting about how your partner hasn’t done the dishes, but you’re emotionally fighting about “not feeling supported”, “feeling like you are being taken advantage of”, “not being heard”. Marriage therapy helps both partners figure out how they are impacting the relationship and ways they can work on healing it.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is an alternative to traditional talk therapy. The goal of EMDR therapy is to assist clients in processing, not merely talking about, unresolved issues that have been stored maladaptively in the brain and continue to disrupt thinking, feelings and behavior. Research has shown, and we have experienced, EMDR to be a very effective treatment with a number of people dealing with a variety of issues. Please visit https://www.emdria.org for more information
